Representing college students who make mistakes

Bryan, Texas, being so close to College Station, no doubt has a lot of students and young adults who live, study and work in the area. Many if not most of these young people are responsible and hard working, but they, like all of us, can make some errors in judgment.

For example, it is well known that college students like to go to parties on the weekends and when school is not in session, and sometimes may even party during the week. This is not bad per se, but these students need to remember that Texas has certain laws about underage drinking and certain type of drug use, even if the student thinks his or her choices are in moderation and therefore personal to him or her.

A drug offense or an underage drinking case can carry serious consequences with it. Even for a first time offender who is unlikely to see the inside of a jail cell for more than a few hours, low-level offenses like this show up on a young person's record and could lead to questions as they start their professional lives or even, in some cases, difficulty finding a job.

More immediately, the student will face probation and all of its restriction, as well as fees, fines, and, in some cases, a license suspension. They may also face additional consequences at school. Finally, one must not forget that jail is always a possibility for any crime.

Our law office is here for college students and other young people who are generally responsible but who may have made a one-time mistake involving drugs or alcohol. We can walk you through the process while you can remain certain that your rights are being protected and that you are being treated fairly.

We also recognize that there are those cases in which a student may have been in the wrong place at the wrong time, but who has really committed no crime or who is the victim of police overreach. In these cases, we will mount a strong criminal defense.
